I was hunting in owen-putnam SF about 15 yrs ago on opening day. I heard a shot real close up the ridge. It was quite dead, not seeing anything so i decided to walk up and see what the guy shot, assuming one shot meant he scored.
walked about 70 yds and saw a huge deer flopping in the leaves but nobody was around. I walked up and it was a doe that I swear was 220 lbs! I looked for nuts because I was certain there was no way a doe could be that big...Nope big skinhead. Unreal...
ANYWAY,
While standing there I noticed that it looked like someone slit it's throat.
Then I saw a guy in blaze orange walking AWAY from where I was. Then up in front of him was a guy standing next to a dead deer...with a HIGH POWERED RIFLE on his shoulder. I yelled at him and asked if he killed a big doe.
He yelled back begging me to tell him it wasn't dead because he only had one tag. Anybody else know where this story is going?
Yep...tried to head shot the big one and it passed through and killed one of her fawns on the other side.

Oh yeah, I can't wait till they are legal. It will push me right out of the woods the day before the firearms opener.
