Thanks, doesn't sound like anything was amiss. I think you are worrying too much. Maybe a hpr would have anchored the deer on they're property, who knows. But I don't think hpr's will make hunters go rogue. It will allow long shots but you still have to go get the deer. Poachers and thieves will always be a small percentage no matter what the rules.

76 Chevy/I'm looking at the 2001 Hornady ballistics table for their custom ammo and 243 and 25-06 are ballisticly very similar. 243 100 gr btsp sighting at 200 is 7.1 low at 300 and 21" low at 400. 25-06 listed at same zero, 7 low at 300 and 20.7" at 400. But with a 117 grain btsp. Energy advantage slightly to the 25-06. But lighter bullets in 243 could be good for you varmint wise, more flexibility. Some of the special loadings for varmints could get you a bit flatter.
