The CO tracked the blood trail across the fence and about 40 yards into the woods on their side, so the neighbor kept the deer. There is a bit of a further story to it but I will only say that for over 20 years prior to this neighbors family starting to deer hunt, I welcome the two guys who hunted that woods to shoot into our fields and woods at any time, no questions asked. Would still welcomed them to do so but there were issues with the couple of other guys. The CO who owned a farm across the road from ours fully understood the situation and wouldn't have called if the two other guys were in our field retrieving a deer.
