We have some really big bucks hanging around this year and the racks are huge already. I know many of them shed antlers this year in mid Jan. Is there any possibility they started growing sooner also, and that's why the racks are unusually big? Or is it just nutrition/genetics? I know that food plots aren't supposed to make bigger racks, but many people around me have them as do I, so maybe it helped through the winter? I will say the harsh winter seemed to have very little impact on the deer herd around me (west central).
