As a season wears on, more antlerless deer are killed per day than antlered.
In 2012, it started out about 50/50 in firearms. By the end of the season, antlerless deer accounted for 71% of the daily take. Antlerless harvest averaged 73% of the daily take of the last week. In 2011, it was more like 65%. In 2010, 67%.
The last weekend is always over 70% does.
Muzzleloader is always 70%+ antlerless.
I guess the takehome is that, a great majority of antlered deer are killed in the first 9 days of firearms season. Later seasons account for a lower proportion of the harvest overall and a much lower harvest of the antlered deer.
3260 (11%) bucks were killed in the last week of the firearms season in 2012.
