Non resident deer licenses went up 60%....still not enough
Most had not been changed in 15 to 20 years. Past time for an increase

Agree with you. The NR deer license increase was not enough. Compared to some other states, we're still a ridiculous bargain for non-residents at 240.00. It'll cost you 500.00+ to get an IL archery NR deer license and has been that way for 20 years or more. More than 800.00 for Iowa, once you pay for 5 years worth of points needed to draw the better zones.

A state's hunting resources are reserved primarily for it's residents. Every single state that offers hunting, works it that way. We're all NR's in 49 states, and can't expect the luxury of hunting in those other 49 states at bargain-basement prices. In a bunch of states, you can't even buy a deer license over the counter as a NR, like you can here. In some, you have to wait your turn and draw, which can take years. IMO an out-of-state, over-the counter deer tag for 240.00 is a true bargain in this day & age, and becoming more and more of a rarity.
Looking at the US cumulative CPI price inflation over the last 20 years....it comes to about 57%. And they raised the license fee by roughly that amount.

now going to cost me $160 just for what I purchase yearly (Combo hunt/fish, 2 Archery, gamebird stamp, Turkey and the Salmon stamp ), thank goodness I no longer gun hunt or use bonus/urban tags ...... I can understand the raises, long time coming .. I also think the non res deer should be more and should be on a draw basis ... I see more and more non res. vehicles in the F&W lots every deer season (Mich, Ill., PA, NJ, Ohio and others) ... one last thing, get the damn crossthingys out of the Archery season .. (I can wish cant I .. ) .. ;0)

This is a pathetic post from my fellow sportsmen. Cannot believe you need to put anything like this in writting on a public forum. Very sad that my annual hunting trip with my Marine buddy from Vietnam will now be out of my reach due to these increases. I can only hope karma finds you in the deer woods as you gloat over those pesky non-residents. Really? All over a few dollars and you’re now wishing folks bad luck! Probably setting behind a $4k crossbow and $1500 rifle! SMH
