According to the forecast, we could be hunting turkeys in the snow tomorrow morning. That'll be a first!

had one gobbling on roost yesterday AM across the creek, he'd answer so he knew I was there, he flew down and went the opposite direction ... Was way to tired to get up this AM, didnt get home till 12:30am... early AM hunts kill me the older I get, as that is all you have on the Draw hunts and you have to stop at 12 noon (central) on the F&W lands ... I tried to get up at 3am this morning, I really did, but I was just so damn tired, I said the hell with going out ...... 2nd day with only 2- 3 hours sleep each night .... I work 4-12's, by the time I get home its 1AM, then I only get 2-3 hours sleep if that before the 3am alarm goes off... its worse during deer season, esp. when the damn time change hits .... I can remember when I was younger, I was the Energizer Bunny when it came to early AM hunts and staying up, and hunting with only 2-4 hours sleep each night..... as usual, work gets in the way of hunting and sleep .... maybe tomorrow AM, IF I can wake my butt up ...

I hear ya. After six straight 0’ dark thirties in a row for me, I’m actually starting to acclimate to it😄
Have been able to call in a few Jakes but the couple of Toms I’ve seen have been reluctant to come all the way into bow range. I need them at 20 yds or less. I hate to give them too much credit for smarts, but sometimes they actually seem clever. Or smarter than me at least! More like good survival instinct, I suppose.
Got another couple mornings to hunt before getting back to a busy work schedule. Good luck to all!

well, I finally have the next two days off, I'll be out, my last two draw days (Fri/Sat) ... I'll only get about 2-3 hours sleep tonight after I get home (more sleep before hand tomorrow night), at least I can recoup, hard to do when your working every day ..

Turkeys win ... Fri. AM had a tom gobbling actively at first light, got to 100 or so yds away (woods scenario), didnt put out decoys as I was afraid of being heard/seen and settled in at the base of a large oak within the woods .... he gobbled when I tree yelped/soft called ... I watched him and 4 others fly down.. one of the hens landed 25 or so yds away, she walked within 10 yds, purring/clucking,scratching leves .. the Tom was strutting 60 or so yds away thru the woods, he gobbled a few times and walked off to the w/sw, the hen then walked away into thicker saplings to the south...all never to be seen again/heard again, I sat there for over an hour .. got up only to follow a lone gobble way back in the marsh/woods ... it was a useless endeavor, but hey, I needed the exercise, was out till 11am, never heard another gobble, the winds went haywire around 10insh and went over 20mph + ..... ... nothing at all this AM and the winds were as bad or worse earlier in the AM ... time to go fishin' ..
