My main food plot looks similar to your picture but twice the height so I broadcasted winter wheat Sat at 100 lbs 1/4 acre, Fills in nice after the turnips thicken up and helps feed thru the winter. I started doing this several years ago and it works very nice. I did it with soybeans too. Watch the beans till first sign of leaf yellowing then broadcast wheat. Leafs fall off and kind of mulch in the wheat. This trick extends the life of the plot. If you really want to get creative, in the spring frost seed your favorite clover blend on top of the winter wheat. Wheat matures in July, mow off the wheat and you have a nice clean clover patch. . h.h.
