This season I was blessed to be able to kill 3 birds in two states - one Indiana tag and two Ohio tags. April 13th was the first day of Ohio youth season and right off the roost I killed a decent super jake. 21lb, 5" beard, 1/2" spurs. April 20th was the first day of Indiana youth season and once again I was hunting Switzerland county on Cedar Branch Farms with Zeb, Joe, Bill, Dustin, Brian and all the great guys. Rain and a little snow hit us early but cleared up a little before 10am. After that, Zeb and I had a decent tom enter the field and work it's way in over the course of 2 hours. Once it got to 50 yards i pulled the trigger. A Remington 870 super mag, Indian creek .665 and longbeard xr 3.5" combo does a number at all distances. 23 or so pound tom, 9" beard, 1" spurs. A good 2 year old. On April 25th I decided to try and fill my second Ohio turkey tag prior to school on some private land and it was a success. Right off the limd I called in a really nice bird. At 20 yards he was taking a dirt nap. 26lb 3 or 4 year old with an 11" beard and 1.25" spurs. Probably one of my most favorite solo hunts. Definitely a short and sweet season but one to remember forever!
