Got this off another site. Rave reviews by those who have tried it. Got 8 squirrels thawing now, and will get them pressure cooked in the morning, for tomorrow evening's try. Gonna add some sweet corn to the mix...

Fried some tree rats up earlier this season,,,and Mama didn't care for the texture, and hassle with the small bones. We both love chowder, so this recipe looks worthwhile. Will let ya know how it turns out, Brian.. cool

Simmering on the stove...and had to sample...WOW! eek

This is an awesome recipe,,,and makes a ton! You could probably "halve" the recipe and substitute squirrel with any small game, if you'd like. Very rich and creamy.

This one is going into the recipe box!

I ate this until I couldn't eat any more. Simply delicious! Very rich, and filling. Would be a great deer camp staple!

Like posted before, I'd cut the recipe in half if you're feeding just a few folks...and yer gonna want to make this again... wink

Sounds good.
I had chicken fried elk steak, mashed taters and garden sweet corn last evening smile

Run the round steaks thru cuber once, then turned 90 degrees and ran them thru again. Breaded them up real nice with plain bread crumbs, salt and pepper then fried medium rare in a little oil in iron skillet. Good stuff!

Can you make the same chowder out of rabbit Weed? I'd hate to waste a nice tender rabbit in chowder, but an old chewy one might work great!

Actually any meat would work with this recipe. I love fried squirrel, but the wife isn't crazy about it. I find this a good way to make use of them. The pressure cooker comes in handy for the tough red squirrels. By the way, I add a bag of white sweet corn and some sliced portobellos to the mix.
