Maybe we could do a quick pre-season deer gun tuneup match...
50 yards 3 shots 100 yards 3 shots
Overall winner in each range by group size, and group winners by shotgun, muzzy and PCR.
Post scanned targets by September 20...

Oh, forgot... sticks are legal, but no benchrest/bags... it's a hunting tuneup, so shoot like you would in the field...
Also has to be ammo legal for deer...
Sorry gundude... no M1's... :p

Not bad !. (Fer a democrat) :p To be honest, this new addition to my house is really putting a dent in my shooting time!. I’m never gonna do this again! Kirk, have you played around with any hand loads or different bullet weights? Seems to me you may have a real shooter there and I wouldn't be surprised to see those kinds of results all the way out to 100 yards! My lever gun is a .41mag and I tweaked it around a tad with hand loads and man that thing will flat out get the job done out to 100yds with no problem! Do you know what the twist is on your rifle? Let me know and I'll check some of my data and see what I can find ( factory or hand loads) for you to try if you like.

I've just run 180gr Remington's and 240gr Winchester loads through it so far... 240's didn't stablize as well and seemed to want to create flyers high and left...
I reset it this past session for the 180's, and after that group, tweaked the windage a bit left to bring it in line and it's about at 2" high at 50, which should put it right on the money at 100... I'm going to try and get out this weekend for some practice at 100...
I eventually want to get a set of dies for it and work on some handloads... will check on the twist and get back to you on that...

Keith - 1:38" RH for the .44, which explains why it shoots the lighter rounds better... the .45 Colt is 1:16"...
BTW - I know everyone's been busy, so let's extend the deadline out to October 31...

Better late than never... LOL
What shootin' iron you using, Weed...???
Still plenty of time, as I moved the deadline back to October 31...
I'm going to try and get out for some 100 yard shots this week or next... got the youth hunt coming up this weekend, so wanted to take some shots at longer range...

Well,,,I took one of my White Suoer 91s out this morning shooting my own 496gr. cast conical,,using 72gr. of Swiss 3F. (Gundude has seen these rifles shoot) I aslo use Warne bases,,and Warne QD rings on all my guns. (makes clean-up much simpler,,,and they always go back to "zero") There were 3 guys using the rifle range shooting .22s,,,which wouldn't allow me to utilize my usual "sitting position",,,(the way the range is set up,,,,this would have placed me forward of the shooting line) ,,so I opted for 75 yards from the bench. I know,,,,this isn't the rules,,but I drove there and wasn't gonna leave without burning some powder. Here's how she did.. The first shot was a little low and to the left. I adjusted the Elite 3200 a click right,,and 2 clicks up. The next 4 shots were where I want 'em.... Came home after 5 shots and got her all cleaned up,,and decided to toss a couple arrows from the Check-Mate Hunter II recurve,,,as Trapperdave knows,,I've had a few problems. (thanks for your help,,bro) Right now my problem is deciding which shaft I wanna shoot thru this thing. From the looks of Dave's targets,,,Team Nocks-n-Nipples should be good to go.... Still waiting on Powderfinger's pics...LOL!!

Looks like you an' me, Kirk. Probably be next week before I can get out again. Our range is closed this weekend due to scheduled events. I have another White S91 I need to blow the cobwebs out of.

Yep... I'm going to try and get some long range stuff in tomorrow, but hay baling may cut into that...
Is that a .50 you were shootin' ...? 1" squares on the target, I'm assuming...

Took my son out late afternoon after finishing the hay baling and busted some 2-liter bottles filled with water at 75 yds with the Marlin as a confidence booster for the upcoming youth hunt...
Deer better watch out if they get in front of him this weekend... :-)
