Never saw a good buck during the Indiana hunting season, but got a great opportunity to go to Kansas on a mule deer hunt. Opening day was 20 deg. with 20-30 mph winds, which made for a rough day. Walked all day checking out ravines and draws trying to find a good buck. I saw a ton of deer, but they were extremely skittish in the wind and would bolt the minute they saw anything. I finally started crawling up to the edge of the ravines to look around. This buck stood up at 175 yards in a perfect broad side position. I set the crosshairs on him and squeezed the trigger and nothing! I realized that i had the safety on. Got the safety off, but by that time the buck had enough and started heading up the hill. At the top of the hill he stopped for a brief second and I was on him. The shot was true and I had my first mule deer. [Linked Image]
