Keith was a great friend of sportsmen, we need the happy times of his time with us........... so here goes my favorite GunDude quote.
We are at a NRC meeting at Fort Ben State Park and Keith has his turn at the microphone speaking on high fence hunting......"****, prostitution in legal in Nevada, you want that here in Indiana? No difference between the product being sold."
The room fell silent.................

Didn't know Keith really well enough to add much here. But, when I visited him at the hospital he was worried about his family and how they were handling the situation more then himself. He also talked about how he'd tell people to take care of themselves for the benefit of their family. I think he would say to everyone to take the time to cherish those around you more then maybe we all do. I know that what will be last time I ever talked with him, his thoughts were about others more then his own situation.

I have so many hilarious memories with Keith,,,it's hard to just pick one,,but here's one he would deny to this day.. Keith's new house was being built during the start of deer season,,but the garages were already constructed. Keith decided that the garage would be our base camp for the next few days, so we had cots set up,,an old electric heater and brats in the cooler. After the evening hunt on opening day, he texted me to say he hadn't seen anything, and I texted back basically the same. Nada.... It was getting dark out, and he said that he would fire the grill up and start the brats. Good deal, so I started my journey across the dam,,back to "base camp". Upon arrival, I noticed the grill smoking, and a faint glow through the windows of the garage. I opened the door and immediately noticed that the electric heater was making the chilly garage rather warm and comfortable. I also noticed that Keith had lit about half a dozen candles for light. My immediate response to him was that I thought that it was kinda romantic! He gave me that typical Keith "bite me" look. I then asked him if the lamp on top of the refrigerator worked? (he hadn't noticed that it was there) It did...and he blew the candles out and finished cooking the brats. I told him that I appreciated the gesture,,and it would be "our secret". I received another "look".... This pic was taken about a month ago, at Cataract during our last camping trip. Just a man and his 2 best friends. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v113/Batchief909/keithandicamp2014002_zps217cbfce.jpg) Gonna miss ya, brother..

"Hunt on" rings a bell for me.
It has been said that "You can not control how long your life is, but you can control how deep and wide it goes." Keith's life is being cut shorter than we wanted but it went deep and wide enough to include us all. It went deep and wide by Keith being involved in conservation, hunting trips, fun times at his house celebrating veterans, and just being, well, Keith.
I will say this - Keith made his peace with the Lord before all this happened. We talked many times about God, faith, and grace. He had an understanding that he had made mistakes in his life but that could not keep his Heavenly Daddy from loving him. Over the past year, I know for a fact that he found peace in a personal relationship with Jesus. He mentioned it many times. I will miss our conversations and texts.
"Hunt on" my brother.

We will “carry on” without Keith. But, it won’t be the same. I can’t say I was a close friend, but a friend of many years none the less. It is tough to lose a friend. I thank him for being my friend, and for all the good he did in this world.
May all our hunts be safe, enjoyable, and deeply appreciated.

One of my favorites is his outlook on working or holding a day job of any kind. He always says:
"Work??? that's much too difficult and time-consuming!"

These guys were also lost in the woods one day... Maybe Keith's slice is gone now and he's pain-free rearranging heaven for the rest of us...
