Going to Erie for the first time, gonna be vertical jigging. What kind and pound test line should I use?

We always use 8# fluorocarbon. That has been what our guides recommend as well.

We fish Lake Erie alot, and in my opinion, it is a little late in the season for jigging. The mayfly hatch is over and the fish scatter. We were just up there this past weekend and done real well. In the morning when there is still a lot of chop on the water we cast for walleye, run and gun, and in the afternoon when the wind dies down and the fish quit biteing, we throw out the planer boards and troll. You can cover alot more water that way. Maybe this info will help you. Good Luck!
