Anyone planning any out-of-state hunting adventures this fall?

That should be a great trip. I don't think I've ever heard a bad hunting trip report from SA. Everyone who goes seems to love it and wants to go back. So many different animals to hunt!

Yaz, northern Colorado had a very warm winter, but they finally got snow & cold right at the end of February. So I buzzed out there to hunt with my houndsman friend Jed for 4-days. We put some serious miles on his track machines, but never cut a track fresher than about 48 hours old. The wind & snow kept coming which fills in the cat tracks and makes it tough. The day after I left it got warm again, and stayed warm all the way through the end of April when the season closed. No snow basically means no cat hunting. Hoping for better luck next year!

Drew an archery elk tag in Wyoming (Bighorn Mountains) back in February. Should draw a mule deer tag for the same area (draw results will be out next month).
Struck out everywhere else to date...with just a few draws remaining to be determined.

Weedhopper,
The IBA used to auction off a black bear hunt in Ontario. The outfitter passed away a couple years ago. His place was absolutely LOADED with grouse. Seems few people up there hunt them for sport. Bowhunters actually killed quite a few on fall bear hunts.
Guess what I'm saying...you might contact a few bear outfitters in Ontario and inquire about grouse? Might be able to get a good deal on that?

Just saw results for Colorado - heading back for my 2nd elk hunt in October. Time to get back in shape
It's hard to soar like an eagle when you're flying with a bunch of turkeys.

Congrats pav & animalhouse on your elk tags. I find it hard to beat an elk hunt....for the amount & variety of game to be seen, the heart-pounding close encounters with those huge wapiti beasts, the beautiful pristine country they live in, and if you score....the fantastic eating you're sure to enjoy!
We'll also be heading west to hunt elk this fall. My son got lucky & drew a very good elk tag in Utah. I'll be serving as the spotter and pack mule.
Animalhouse I hear ya about getting in shape. Got a good little ways to go myself!

"a very good elk tag in Utah"...more like one of the best elk tags in the world! Your son sure beat some amazing odds for that tag. Congrats and best of luck!
