Called one in today. Used cottontail distress. I called for 20 minutes before he came in. Like Bowbo said start soft in case one is close and then slowly increase volume. Try to hunt with a crosswind. A coyote will circle and try to get downwind of your location. Be sure to set your call 30-40 yards away from you. This will focus the coyote attention off your location.
A slow hit is better than a fast miss.
