Well, i guess things haven't changed since I used to trap regularly, coons just aren't terribly picky.

Mini marshmallows and HTS Sweet Success lure. Neighbor just called and said I got 2 waiting for me when I get home. Me and the kids set in his cattle barn last night on some fresh sign. Will post pics in a few hours.

Talked to a guy in Lafayette this morning who sells on the carcass, frozen, to a guy that comes down from northern Indiana every couple of weeks through a close friend. He is a close long time friend who I trust to be truthful. He said he has been told to only keep large coons and let the small one's go because the buyer has no interest in them. The close friend and family have caught about 50 coyotes and a number of reds. They don't let the reds go and apparently have been getting about 20 dollars apiece for the reds. Can't remember what he said the coyotes were selling for. Now, this guy and his family/friends are retired and they put out a lot of traps and snares so while the 50 number seems impressive, to him it's really not that big of a number.

Could not handle the pressure of not having any sets in so yesterday I set 8 muskrat sets out. Connected on 3 sets today. 1 in a colony set, 1 on a feed bed set, and 1 on a bank den.

What about using snares on them? Set your snare up and put a pole in the ground about a foot away. When the beaver snares himself he will wind himself around the pole until he can no more. Good luck to your boy on that buck he is after.
