Yes it is!! After I got tired of them in the cattle 4 years ago, and got back into trapping, I was amazed!!! 35 that season. That is off of one 160 acre section of the farm where we winter part of the cattle, and have calves. The following two years, was 10 each year. I know that is coyotes from two or three square miles, but they all traveled through at some point.

3 males 1 female Delaney. Pulled my traps from this spot tonight, its just to far to drive to everyday. Gonna set some more this week at a closer spot. Probably not as many coyotes at this spot but I did catch 3 there last year so I know theres some there. Yaz I sure hope I didn't jinx myself.

Well……My son got home from work before I did, and let the hound out. I could tell as soon as opened the truck door I…..or should I say WE had a coon. It appeared the battle had been going on for some time…..


Literally, 15 minutes later it was ready to put on a stretcher!!! I like to take care of them when they are still warm! So much easier.. I'm not ready to go all in just yet. Just getting warmed up where its easy right now!

I cannot answer your question bassbum. it would appear so. But, like I said, the dog had her fun for a while before I got there. Could be dog bites! Not a very good coon color wise. He's an old ground coon, with that yellow/red stained guard hair indicative of a coon living under ground or in a groundhog hole. But, I'll take it!

3 coons and a possuum this morning. Pulled traps for a few days due to work and will start again Sunday.

Couldn't stand yaz having yote traps out and me not so today I put out 3 MB 550's, two dirt hole sets and one flat set. I also set a pipe set for mink at the ditch culvert. I wont set any snares until we get some snow. h.h.

I'm 1 for 1 on the cables!! This one was DOA night before last….about 50 yards behind the barn. Little female. Fur was short, and looks like she had been hit in the rear by a car, and had a softball size spot of hair missing with some scabs. Not worth skinning……she won't bother the calves when they start coming in a month though!!

Thanks Dave. Nice to snag one at home. Still saving the farm until after deer season….Matter of fact they ARE biting Dave. Gulls are giving them away on most days now. However, I have cleaned, and winterized the boat. I need to get busy and kill a couple of deer by the end of the season. This makes the 4'th season since I've killed one (by choice). I am out of meat, and the neighbor that lets me hunt stopped me walking down the road the other day, and said he is out also. Him and his wife love the Rhim's summer sausage.

Gonna try and get all Christmas shopping done this weekend, then looking at the extended forecast calling for 50s. I'm going after some coons and hoping to catch a few more beavers.

Me and my boys went and set some dps last night on some good runs but clear and cool did not produce coons but we did manage another beaver and a muskrat

All my traps were empty today. Mice are eating the bait out of the two mink boxes ive got set. Nothing happened around yote sets which surprised me since it was a predator's moon last night.

I didn't use any call lure in my set except HT yote urine and their top dog bait down the hole. What do you use for call lure? h.h.

I am hoping to try my hand on a few beaver later this year. Looks like a boat load of fun. I try to stay away from using coyote urine due to the fact that I dont know what coyote it came from. If it happened to be a dominate male it could detour smaller yotes from working the set. I had an old timer tell me to always down size one not matter what I am after. If I am after yotes I use fox urine. Fox I will use coon urine. I due use some long distance lures when it gets colder. I like Ohio Valley Long Distance Call by Matt Jones out of KY. Another I like is Caven's Yodel Dog Lure.

Excited for the weekend and ready to get started for the year! We spent last Sunday finalizing trap prep and now it's time to get to work and start put'n up the fur.

Success again. Caught #3 & #4. Now have one more coon than all last year! Both seem to be better furred than the first 2 I caught. Got my coyote traps today. Need to dye, wax and get them in the ground this weekend!!

Caught 2 today man it is fun seeing something in the trap before them and just let them get in front and walk and find the animal first you would think it is like Christmas to them "we got one"

I finally managed to find a little time this week set some traps ended up with ten coon, four opossum, a rabbit and squirrel. Below are a couple coon pics I snapped. I had a couple fox sets out but the coon and opossum kept clogging them up.
