My nice new, purdy scent post set ( that I posted a pic of yesterday) and worked so hard on yesterday yielded this!!!!! Why can't I catch coons in "COON" sets? laugh Oh well…..beats a grinner…barely! Had another one in a bucket set today also! #26 and 27! Dad has been catching 3 or 4 a day also!

Hate that too but they messed all my sets up early when season was not in. Nothing since in a foothold.

I have noticed as the season gets later and later that the prices I am getting has dropped due to quality of the coons. Still fun though. Looks like they might shut down again next week with the cold temps coming.

It is just a gamo .177 pellet rifle. It shoots 1000 fps. It does a really good job on them. I found the best spot to shoot them is through the ear. I trap alot of culverts and it is good along the roads.

I only caught 1 coon this year in a coyote set. Usually a grinner will screw up a nice set everytime it seems. That is the thing about trapping, you never know what you might catch.

Probably catch 20 more coons after the season goes out!!!!!! One notable coon catch after the season last year, was him taking off to the truck, and crawling up in the engine compartment of the truck after the release!!!!!! THAT won't happen again!!! laugh I gotta start carrying that catch pole around.

a single 22 short to the lungs is the way to go.

The coyote skulls have value also. I sell them for $1-2/each to a taxidermist.

It is not a lot of money, but it helps pay for lure, bait, etc.

Well I caught #25 last night which was my goal beginning the season. A Z-Trap at the base of a den tree did the trick on this boar. By the looks of the weather it appears I'm done with the coon for the year. I do have a couple cages in an old barn though.

Caught #31 last night in a culvert. I pulled most of my coon traps though. Only have a few out that I can check while running my coyote traps.

Congrats on the coon catches guys! Its tough catching them right now!!! I'd like to get 3 more, just to say I caught 30. I don't see it happening…But its been fun!!!!! I have couple DP's in barns that I have to go to every day. Rats or something keeps cleaning out the bait.

Well going to make a last ditch effort on coon. I have caught 31 this year and have a friend that puts out a feeder for deer and turkeys this time of year. He says the coons always hi-jack the feeder every year so i am gonna try to help him out the last few days of coon season.

Yes! Nice job guys! Congrats on the "closer" PB! That's a dandy to boot. I hope we have some more join us next year. Its been really fun to share this trapping forum with everybody. Now, time to concentrate on the yaps. I'm also gonna try some beavers if the weather permits.

I too always enjoy the trapping threads. A lot of good ole boys on here willing to share ideas and secrets and no bashing if a guy uses a DP instead of a #1 longspring. Unlike the deer forums over who uses a crossbow or a compound. See you guys on the Yote thread.

I love following these threads every year. One of these years I'm gonna join in myself. Just have to get permission for some places and the time to do it.

Permission to trap is generally pretty easy…..especially after everybody is done deer hunting. Time is my problem too…..

Yes.

I have some places, I can only trap AFTER deer season. this is an easy concession to make when you are tying to get permission from the landowner.

Also, remember farmers generally hate coons and coyotes. You are offering to solve a problem for them, for free! =)
