I use rustoleum paint for predator traps. I will not put speed dip on a predator trap.
I use Speed dip for water traps and it works well.
Speed dip should be used diluted thinner than they recommend. 1:6 dip to coleman fuel and dip on a LOW humidity day with a warm breeze. Otherwise, it will never set and be sticky. You read some bad reviews and they likely did it wrong when they used it...
these are speed dipped

good link about speed dipping.
http://www.trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3894425/1 dye and wax works, but I find it to be a pain and expensive to do it right (propane and wax cost) and it takes forever. Wax also soaks up smells...not a good thing for a coyote trap.
Dakota dip works for snares but is garbage for traps
never used full metal jacket so I can't comment on it
