Mink love to crawl through holes. My mink "cubby's" start as a hole up on the bank, and ends in the water. Or, both ends in shallow water. I typically use a 1.5 coil spring under the water at the entrance. I toss a dead shad, or other type of fishy smelling bait up in the hole. You can use a body grip if you like. I set a foot hold trap because 110's aren't very effective on coon. I built some boxes, but prefer to build them out of rocks and natural material found on the bank. Since the mink season comes in tomorrow, I hopefully will be setting them. I'll take some pics and post.

Right. That is an excellent price. A few years ago, top end finished coon were going for prices in this range. Originally posted by delaney: Good going Luke. Actually, $16 doesn't seem to bad to me for green.

2 skunks in DP's and a grinner is all today. Did watch a mink from the tree stand this morning. That was cool.
Nice job guys. 76 you are wearing them out.
One of my issues is that our good deer spots will probably be our best trapping spots. Not setting them yet.

I stand corrected: 1 small coon. I went back to take care of the dispatched skunks and had a coon nearby. I went back to take care of skunks after Luke went to school. I can just hear everyone talk about the smell if he got the juice on him.
Makes 2 coons... hey got to get the skinks and possums out of the way.

I could go to a zoo and not see a darn deer. I want to set so bad but want to get a couple deer and don't have time to run traps. I couldn't stand it though and set a few dp's along the highway in culverts for only 2 days. caught 3 coons, 1 grinner and a pissed off house cat. Someone could make a fortune if they made a "Grinnner Proof" trap.

you averaged $7 on grinners or is this the price for your top one? I am hoping for a big coon weekend, and no deer hunters messing with my traps or coon Originally posted by Yaz: Originally posted by psearchery: [b] skin those possums its good practice and if you catch enough they add up. i skinned one last night that was a big female. one of the biggest coons i have seen. the biggest went right at 20lbs on a digital scale. Not nearly as big as you think it "should weigh" tons of fat and really nice looking fur. I have a road line mapped out for December. I amd hoping it produces big time.... Originally posted by Yaz: The two on the right are good ones Chevy. ....

I caught 2 skunks in a DP and my trapping guy thought that was really rare. I caught 2 side by side. Pretty things but they sure stink. You guys catch any in a dp?

Dang, nice catches Yaz. Seems odd to me the red would have tried the under the barn route. Catch many that way? Also, my wife and i are tagged out on deer so Tennessee is calling my name! I'll keep you posted.

Nice catch today. We caught 1 possum and had a couple misses. Did not set minks sets due to rain and the creek will be up quite a bit after today.

Foxes have raised several litters under that old floor over the years. Coons were going in and out, and a snare was set just in case a fox came back through. It got tangled, and was not able to be released. We TRY not to catch foxes, as the coyotes have really put a hurt on them. The foxes have made a little comeback since we have been working on the coyotes so hard around there. I hope they do!

Caught a possum, kitty cat, and a 24# female coon today. Had a few DP's hit but not tripped. When water goes down, mink sets will go in.
Nice job on #20 76....

Got some new sets out and hoping for a good coon night We are finding the same thing Chevy. The coon population is off this year around us.. We are having to move around a lot to keep catching, and its just one or two at a spot. Drought did hurt the kitten coon IMO. Lack of berries and no water in the ditches probably took its toll. A lot of the coon we are catching are good size coons though. You are doing very well at 20 IMO. Not exactly sure, but with Dad trapping 1/2 the county, and the few I have nabbed, its about 30 between us. bean, we didn't get that much rain here. .8" is all. I know you got hit pretty hard over there. The ditches came up about 3" and it didn't hurt a thing. Matter of fact, I like seeing some water in them now.
