Heck Yaz, I'm soo jealous I think I need to move! I wonder if my subdivision neighbors would mind if I put out a set or two!

the ones I am catching are still quite blue.

Just a guess, but likely only going to fetch a few bucks.

Those December and early Jan yotes are where the $ is. Some of the ones I have caught late have terrible broken down backs and are really not worth skinning.

I was going to ask you what they looked like Chevy. I only had two last year that I caught really late ( mid-March) that weren't worth skinning. But.....they were trouble makers and needed caught. So, I kept after them until I got them out of there,

Sounds like you need to move back to the farm and get new neighbors Dave! laugh When I tell the neighbors around here that I'm catching coyotes again. They all ask me if they need to put their dogs up, and tell me to catch every one! laugh

Mine had a little blue tint to it but I have no idea what to compare it to. I forgot how much these things stink. I am hoping to get one of those skinning machines. I can skin 3-4 deer in the time it took me to skin out the coyote. Get better as I go I guess.

#2

Caught this female in the same set that I caught a male in a couple weeks ago. I pulled up and she was asleep, honked the horn and woke her up.

The .22 short behind the shoulder worked great. No blood or mess. Thanks for that tip. Oh, and I caught this one 300 yards from where I watched 8 quail walk under my deer stand. Helpin' the quail out a bit.

You are killing them with the old drain pipe set!

I pulled a week ago before a camping trip then spent last week in Florida....I am ready to go for coon season on Friday.

That old pipe drain is just laying there and I use it to guide the coyotes in a lil better. Seemed like a good idea at least.

I will start going for coons next week. I hunt Big Oaks this weekend. Pretty excited I got 3 more farms to trap just yesterday. Dog proofs and people having coyote problems really help get you permission.

Friend is working on making me a skinning machine. Pretty fun this trapping thing.

wow, that is great. Catching some problem coon and coyotes can open some doors (and gates) for hunting access too.

With all I have read about the fur market, we are looking at the highest prices in years now too.

I thought I would add one in. Snaring is pretty new 2 me. Ran what few snares I had this morning & this 35 pound male was taking a cold nap. My set is off of a North/South fence row that opens up to a large soybean field. Last year I snared another male in the same area. My kids really enjoy this & my daughter was ecstatic to see one on the line. I have a great partner in the outdoors. Just curious, what is considered to be a large coyote?

Also, my daughter noticed one of the feet was jacked up. Looked like a foot hold caught it's pad on the back right foot, Maybe?

Good job! Keep after 'em! Thats great to involve the young ones in trapping. I have weighed a lot of coyotes, and kept a log a lot of times. Most younger male coyotes weight around 25 to 30 lb. Older, more mature males will weight upwards of 40 lb. Several years ago, i caught two males the same day that both weighed 45 lb each.
