I do not know why. I just know I personally have never seen a coyote eat a coon. This little bit of snow and cold don't bother coyotes any. They are not hungry yet either. As long as they can hunt mice, voles, and their favorite foods they may not touch it. It just sparked their curiosity. They were just lucky they didn't step on that trap!!!!
