The tire tracks in the snow reminded me of what an old rancher out west told me. He said they set two traps right in the tracks and just cover them with snow. The set the pans exactly 26" on center apart. That is the stride of a walking coyote out there. I think the stride is actually approximately 13" apart, but they set them 26" to get some space between the traps. I think our yaps are a little bigger, so that may change a little. I'll have to measure the next set of tracks I see to find out.
