I can tell you I just drove through there a few hours ago and there wasn't one person dove hunting in any of the fields. The fields don't look too good really, but I may go give it a try here in a few. Just take you a chair/bucket sit in the rows of corn facing the sunflowers and wait for the birds to fly over. I went there a couple times last year and the fields looked much better.

How did you do?

I would think the doves would be pretty well shot up there by now.

For consideration. A guy that hunted next to us in a field earlier in the week left about an hour before sunset. He was headed to the Mallard Lake parking lot. He said the birds were coming off the dairy farm in the evenings and going to and across Mallard to water and roost. I don't know the reality of that but clearly this gentleman hunts Atterbury quite a bit from what I gathered from our conversation. Frankly, the other place to hunt in late evenings is Driftwood lakes. On occasion, there are quite a few birds that come to the lakes to water and roost.

I couldn't believe the corn that was coming down yesterday. There were 6 different fields either down or coming down on 31 as I was going to and from Columbus yesterday. One was cut just south of the dove fields and I figured it was full of doves. I didn't see a dove for the first 45 minutes I was there. There's a spot just south of Stone Arch lake where they used to roost as well. I haven't looked for them there this year though. I never have hunted the sunflower fields over towards Pisgah Lake. Seems most people hunt the ones there just east of the creek.
