Gander has them, at least at castleton in Indi as an FYI.

I honed the barrel to a mirror finish on my 835 Grand Slam and it will pattern pretty much any shell Ive tried with the .690 Mossberg factory turkey choke.
A shell Ive shot great patterns in several guns is the 2 3/4" #5 Winchester XX and they dont cost you $5.00 a piece. h.h.

If a guy knows and practices his maximum distances then I have no problem with a long shot but its the guys who practice at 40 and shoot 60 that bother me.
Super tight chokes leave little room for error at short distances. I want a full-even pattern with my choke rather than one that will shoot a turkeys head off @40 yards. h.h.

I will post up some pictures when we get done sighting in this weekend, I am going to give the 3 inch number 5 xr's a go. As with a few I was/am skeptical but have been doing a lot of reading on this particular shell, interested to see how it operates out of my ol Mossberg, going to be shooting it out of an Indian Creek and Comp n Choke.

Just remember...lead. Just because it will punch holes in paper,,,,,doesn't mean it will penetrate on a bird at long distances.

I agree. Have to say, I was not terribly impressed with hevi shot my 3 inch 12 ga 870 shot winch supreme #5s just as well as #5 hevi shot in my trials using a n indian creek choke tube. <$2/ shell vs $5/ shell Originally posted by Weedhopper: I agree with the one poster,,,"there will be a lot of wounded birds out there". I'll keep using Hevi-Shot. You also have to realize...there are a bunch of still-board shooters on that site. What will punch holes in paper, won't necessarily kill a turkey at 50 yards using lead shot. If ya can't call 'em in close....you shouldn't be shooting.

I will likely try some of the xr's, at least you get 10 shells in the box and for nowadays, at a reasonable price. Plus I'm a sucker for freebies and you get the free t shirt this year! A lot of the big numbers you see in choke and ammo ads are for the smallest size shot, 6's and even 7 1/2's (which I personally would not use). I agree w earlier sentiment, call em close and enjoy the hunt. 25-35 yards is about perfect and that outta be in xr's sweet spot.

Yeah wouldn't want any lead from a shotshell in the soil at Big Oaks. Unexploded ordinances and decades of blowing up stuff= ok, lead shot in this day and age.......yer busted.

The depleted uranium from the shells in the soils isn't real good for humans either.
