Well, this is the first year that I have sent in the entry for State Park Hunts. And I found out too late, that I was supposed to enter my buddy. I did shoot an email seconds after hitting send to the DNR rep in charge, but they did not bother emailing nor calling back.

The question about having to register my buddy is understood- I know that if I did not include him and I am selected (was) that he will not be on the list.

Therefore, the question is, "do the state park hunts allow walk-ins or Stand-by hunters after all registered folks are checked in?". I know other hunts allow this but do not know if the reduction hunts do.

Thanks!

I don't think so. I can only speak of Whitewater - others may allow it. Could be wrong as we usually get there early. You may have to just call the area you want to hunt and ask. Be the best idea.

I highly doubt that they will allow walk ins... If they need x amount hunters to fill x number of slots then they will draw x amount of hunters to fill those slots....

Like bean suggested, call them but I doubt that they will let your buddy come in, sorry... Let us know the outcome though.

Only select properties have no show drawings. What property you interested in ?

Call the property directly to inquire.

Check out the data, if you showed up for the standby at the 3 parks testing out the draw last year, you got in to hunt. Looks to be working well....

Good to know. I guess it really depends on the layout and if managers want to bring on no-show draws.

I know the state park hunts that I have been to do allow standby. The standby are not allowed in until after the register time cutoff for those who have drawn. The standby hunters usually get in after shooting time and is great for those already on stand as they push the deer around when they are looking for a setup spot.

Is there a list of parks that are allowing no shows? h.h.

Exactly. I had 8 Amish guys walk by me at 10:00AM last year. About 10:15 they ran a buck and doe right to me.
