We’ll be completely revamping this site within the next few weeks.
Members will then be able to upload pictures to their posts, along with multiple other new features.
I’ll post more details later, as I have them.

I'm on Facebook and a member of a couple groups there, but generally only use it when someone wants me to look at something, or chime in on a topic. Interesting that I also used it last year to identify a trespasser & trail cam thief whose picture I got on another trail cam. Turns out facebook is a pretty good tool for that purpose For this bulletin board to move there, would eliminate our ability to have classified ads with gun sales. Along with some other drawbacks associated with most of the wide-open social media venues. But our new HH.com site will probably at least have "tweet" and "like" buttons for those who want to share links on those two venues.

This is just my take on it. I am very active on FB ... FB has it's positives but a ton of negatives too. I use it to network mainly. I will say that hunting "groups" on FB generally suck and anymore I avoid them. People add me to their hunting groups it seems like every day and most of the time I leave the group immediately.
Forums like this one and many others do a better job of keeping information organized. Topics flow and are much easier to be searched. The information shared is generally better.
And ... if you think the fighting on forums can get bad ... get into a FB Hunting Group argument ... holy crap! They get nasty, trains get derailed fast, and everything turns into a pre-school cat fight. I swear I lose IQ points ever time I join in a discussion on a FB Hunting Group.
I still love the old forums, even though across the board, forum participation is way down since FB and other social media has come into the picture.

I am on FB as well for a number of reasons:
1. Networking and information. I would say 90% of my church is on FB and it is a great way to promote and keep everyone up to date on various things. It is also great networking for our beekeeping hobby. I can literally let 1000’s of people know about catching swarms or doing a cutout - for FREE.
2. My family is all over the USA and daughter will end up in Thailand at some point. My mom especially likes the updates/pictures since she lives 5 hours away. FB is a great way to keep them current.
3. I belong to a few hunting and beekeeping pages. I filter those that get crazy and I leave. Don’t have time for people nuttier than a pile of squirrel turds. I exercise my right to delete or hide. Trapper Dave has a pretty good FB page and he keeps it filtered pretty well. So does Woody. I enjoy both of those and seeing stuff people catch or harvest.
All that said - I pick and choose what I want to be a part of.

This is a service that is provided on most websites nowadays. All it means is that people who happen to be members of Facebook or Twitter can choose to share links or pictures from this site, on those sites, with just the click of a button. There's no requirement to join a social media platform in order to participate here.

While I may be a member of both, I think they both have a place, but must remain separate. It is amazing how quickly someone's hunting post on Facebook gets hijacked by an anti, followed by cursing and death threats (remember Cecil the lion?). At least on here we can have civil discussion without dealing with anti bs, when you screen your members it helps filter them out. On Facebook, hunting is a fringe activity, and we become a target for antis if we post hunting-related content there. I am very glad Hoosier Hunting is still around for us.
