Good afternoon, The Indiana DNR values the opinion of all its citizens in the management of white-tailed deer in the state. If you are a hunter or non-hunter, we would like to give you an opportunity to provide feedback on deer management. Below are links to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources 2018 Indiana Deer Management Survey. Follow this link to the Survey: https://idnr.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/...RgQRPoN_MLRP_2rv7HE1SC7G3ZPL&Q_CHL=email If you have questions about the validity of this email, please contact the Indiana DNR Deer Hotline at 812-334-3795 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday. The phone number is also published in the Indiana 2017-2018 Hunting and Trapping Guide or on-line on page 24 at wildlife.in.gov/2343.htm. You can also find the number using an internet search for "Indiana Deer Hotline". We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. Sincerely, Joe N. Done....for what good it was worth?
Half or more of the survey was CWD specific.
Felt like I was being steered on the other half. (i.e. Please select the best answer from our predetermined list of answers.)
Unfortunately, the average hunter is simply too far down the food chain these days to actually be relevant.
Hunters ---> DNR ---> NRC ---> Legislature
There are none so blind as those who will not see.

I agree with PAV. Good grief it seemed like 3/4 of the survey were CWD and sharpshooter questions. Most of them reiterated time and time again to trip you up or something it felt like. Poor survey in my opinion and that data could easily be manipulated to whatever outcome desired....I guess we know what the DNR is going to be focusing on.

I was a little shocked at how long the survey was and also how many sharpshooter/CWD questions there were on it.

Didn't receive the survey and probably won't. I've never received any of the IDNR surveys. They miss an important demographic among deer hunters by always failing to include landowners. As far as I know they've never made any survey available to landowner deer hunters. Even though hunting landowners make up a large percentage of the deer harvest in the state.

Attention Indiana deer hunters. The DNR has released a NEW deer survey! This is being be done through an email request to go onlineand fill out the survey.. They are doing this to collect more detailed data andlearn more about local herds. We will be releasing more information in thefuture about what else you can do to help the DNR collect even more detailedinformation to better help them decide the health of your local herd and bonusquotas for your area. In order to get this new survey you MUST have an account registered with theIndiana DNR. Here is the link to check in to your account (or registerfor a new account) .... https://secure.in.gov/apps/dnr/portal/#/home If you do not check in on line and/or you don't receive email news from the DNRthen you probably do not have an email address registered with the DNR. If theyhave an old email address or you aren't sure follow the link and to see if youare registered or to setup an account. They will let you know if you have anaccount or not and they can help you figure out your password. It is importantwe get as many people to fill this survey out as possible. Talk to people andmake sure they are registered with the DNR. If you are a landowner who isn'trequired to buy a license then you might not have an account. Therefor you willneed to register to get your voice heard. Please once you get the survey take the 10 minutes tofill it out and help our state deer biologist get the information he needs.

This survey was/is for any and all that have CID# .... to use the current game check in system you must have a CID#! Like most people, I've had a Customer ID # since the first year of the CheckIn system, and use it every year. No survey in spam email either, and I check it multiple times per day.

I got the survey and took the time to give my input. Just like others said, I was shocked at the regurgitation of the same questions regarding CWD. It felt like the survey was trying to trap you into contradicting yourself the way that it asked the same questions over and over with minor tweaks to the wording. I felt that not enough questions were spent on input on antlerless harvests, season structures, personal observations, etc.
But at least we got to provide some input.
Oh and I hate the new CID system that they put in place. Somehow, I have two CID numbers assigned to me personally. I have no clue how it happened because I don't buy licenses, as I am Lifetime License holder. I have called the State multiple times and they cannot for whatever reason resolve it.

Total of 187 questions (includes all sub-questions or situations asked to respond to...does not count "choose from following" as multiple)
Only 180 total questions IF your county of residence was different than hunting county chosen.
87 questions about CWD (or few other diseases/illnesses)

They absolutely created every type of question to be able to say that 60-80% of hunters support some form of deer assassination squad.
Pitiful DNR Employees..

Originally posted by Boneslayer: Took the survey today. Pretty disappointing. Seems like it was mostly about CWD and using sharpshooters. CWD has only affected a few counties in Indiana. How about addressing EHD and the overall health of the deer herd. EHD has effected pretty much every county in the state. I dont know why they would want to pay sharpshooters when IN hunters would gladly do it for free. CWD has never been found in Indiana as of YET. TB and EHD..... yes has be found in Wild and farmed cervids in Indiana.

Very obvious goals. There were a couple "quality versus quantity" questions but they only asked if you felt you had the desired quantity in your hunting area. Never did they ask if you were satisfied with the QUALITY.... unless they measure quality simply as big versus small antlers.

DEC But at least we got to provide some input. Exactly. It may not be perfect....or what was wanted by some, but I'll give the new deer biologist kudos for taking it on and making it happen.

[/b]Prospective employers are notorious for rewording the same question at least twice on evaluation exams. I've not seen such tactics employed on any DNR survey in the past...and this one was way over the top with CWD and sharpshooter questions. Doesn't feel like the DNR is after consistency at all. Someone said it earlier...the results will provide highly manipulative data. I'm VERY disappointed.

I said nothing about the "Legislature"...... I said "larger people"... and we all knew who that was for those of us paying attention back then. But yes..... that too opened the door up for the IDNR being undermined......... and they have taken advantage of the "weakend IDNR" ever since.

Pitiful is right ....your hypocritical ways "Dew as I say not as I Dew" SMH! You weren't there in a meeting when Patrick Early of the NRC showed his true colors and wanted "a particular" agenda in place vs what the IDNR thought was best... You weren't there when Chad Stewart told us what was really going on, and who's agenda in the NRC was going to trump what the IDNR wanted....and it had nothing with what the "public survey" said... You weren't there in the room with a Senator in Indy in his office with 3 Brass members of the IDNR including Rob Carter, members of the IDNR committee that helped draft Prop 1.0 with Chad Stewart our Deer Biologist of the IDNR........ and hear the IDNR say out loud "WE WANTED PROP 1.0"...... and describing how others were abusing their power to override what the IDNR's proposal was. You weren't in the room when it was also shared that the IDNR knew having over 95% of the hunters feeling they NOT need to even respond to the survey was convincing to them they had the right Proposal on the table.......and demonstrated satisfaction of what was being proposed....amongst other data they had. You Brew........years ago......... were nowhere to be found in support of what the IDNR wanted. But you and jjas WERE found in places to undermine the IDNR and helping those few with power undermine their proposal and process all over full crossbow inclusion, and moving the gun season around a bit. Now here you both sit years later........ division amongst hunters more than EVER, Legislatures doing as they please with our regs, a weakened IDNR, and deer hunters PIZZZZZED off on what happened due to you and jjas type tactics/stunts you used to undermine our IDNR. Enjoy the front row seat you've NEVER been in Brew.....other than the "front row seat" you have at your computer in a little dark room in your house with your empty Shlitz beer cans and Cheeto bags at your feet as you type with your little Orange color covered cheeto fingers. You were NEVER around to what was being said....... and you still aren't....... Keep pretending Brew....... Reality is now here and it's gonna be a B***H....

Good... I knew you wouldn't prove anyone wrong .... And no one even asked you to provide any links!! That's very telling it's self... maybe a guilty mind at work? Proposal 1&2 wasn't about any survey as you falsely claim it was....It was all to do with PUBLIC input asked for by the IDNR...And here we are SEVEN years later and some are still whining that their minority input didn't "TRUMP" the majority input! Sounds like straight up democrats at work to me! SMH Many have seen you go down that known rabbit hole before and know the usual out come. And I'm quite fine if you keep believing your false claims also...I sure your known History will repeat it's self Enjoy your you delightful night back under the bridge ..... and don't forget your Meds it seems you have some NEW ones or your bottle is empty once more!
