Good chance they're eating lot of acorns right now. On my place they switched away from browse, forbs, and row crops about 2 weeks ago, and are now roaming into the hardwoods at night to hit the oaks. This can mean a drastic change in movement patterns, including their use of completely different bedding spots. I believe this effect is what makes them so tough to keep track of this time of year. Up until near the end of October that is, when the bucks start thinking more about does and roaming all over in daylight.
