Check out this site choose the county in Indiana(or any state) locate the property and just click on it. Gives you owner and address of owner, as well as acreage. You can get a topo of area or even an arial photograph(2005). Pretty cool..... no need for platt book any longer.

I found the land I hunt on thru the GIS, called the land owner asking for permission and he allowed me to hunt his 239 acres. You will contact several lands owners before you get the first yes, but hey its worth a try because it worked for me.

I hope this resource helps people here get property to hunt. Remember, IDNR survey shows 25% of landowners have NEVER been contacted for permission to hunt! One out of four, but please don't gain permission to just hunt one or two times a year. Share this info with friends.....

What's also nice is you can use the "tools" and get GPS coords to reference stuff and load those into your handheld GPS.

I use the beacon sight a lot for areas around my house, but I wish all counties were on there.

You can usually Google the County Name and then PVA to get the county auditor's website and they might have a GIS map where you can look at property lines and other data.

For example, I live in Kenton County, so I would Google "Kenton County PVA"

FYI, the Beacon site is a great resource, but do not count on the property lines being accurate. My property in Dearborn County is slightly off on one corner and way off on another corner. Still a great resource.
