We put up stands today. Checked cameras. Trimmed shooting lanes. Check all straps and lifelines. Luke has been shooting his bow everyday. Dialed in my .32 for squirrels.

Now we wait......

Soybeans have been planted since May, will be broadcasting turnips and groundhog radish around 15 August, wheat in late Sept...all of this in one plot. Stands stay up year around so other than trimming a few branches they are ready. Time for a night fishing walleyes starting tonight.... smile h.h.

Lots of food plot (clover and alfalfa) maintenance activity in June (spread lime, sprayed for grass, mowed, had to spray for broadleaf weeds due to intrusion of a short, vining weed that was flat taking over a clover plot).

Planted two acres of Real World soybeans and added two strands of electric tape around that particular field. Trying to protect the young plants until they get some decent growth.

Burned down two old clover plots and our annual plots last weekend. Hoping to get those planted by mid-August....weather dependent.

When not working at the farm, flinging arrows and tweaking my pack weight for an upcoming caribou hunt in Alaska. Flying up four weeks from today.

Bean, I was flatlining them at 1.5-2mph trying to keep them 2-3ft , color was perch and firetiger.

Should have stayed home last night, 2 flat tires on trailer. Walmart tire center was still open or I would be heading back today, plus 2 thunderstorms. Not the kind of night I wanted.... frown h.h.

Got my bow re-strung and shooting quite a bit.

Trying (but probably not hard enough) to get in shape for upcoming mountain hunts.

Got my fall food plot seed ordered and coming in this week. Planting radish and turnip and rye, in hopes of keeping a few deer around for late season.

Lots of honey-do distractions here at the homestead are limiting the outdoor activity!

I hear you Greg! This has absolutely been my worst spring/summer preparing for the mountains. Wanted to drop 16-18lbs, but have been stuck between 10-12 for weeks now. Basically the same routine as last year, but not producing the same results. Could be an age thing? smile

Only saving grace is where I'm going, likely won't experience altitudes much over 3,000ft.

Best of luck on your hunts!

Paul

Sweet looking Big Red. Is that a 250ES? . 85 or 86 model. Looks to be in really nice condition, if so it's worth more today than what they cost new in 85-86. Just the two plastic side covers with good stickers will fetch over a 100 bucks on Ebay

They are good old machines. I have an 86 250es Big Red that does everything I need an ATV to do. Still to this day never owned a 4 wheeler. First was an ATC 90 back in the 70's. Good ones today are getting hard to find and when you do they ain't cheap like they used to be
