This was a heck of a memory. So, Tuesday evening Gracie, dad, and I went out hunting in the ground blind on the pipeline. It wasn't too long and a small buck and a doe came out of the back field at about 150 yards. Before we knew it, a deer came out of the woods at somewhere between 25 - 35 yards. She didn't feel comfortable using her 410 shotgun at that range with open sights, but did feel comfortable using my 44 magnum rifle. I looked through the rifle scope and the deer moved it's head and my heart dropped when I saw it. It was a brute of a buck. I aimed the gun and got Gracie on the deer. She got on the gun rest and I looked through the scope and seen that the cross hairs were right where we needed them. She squeezed the round off like we practiced, and you could hear the bullet hit the deer as loud as day. He stood there for a couple short seconds and then ran through the woods about 30 good yards. We gave it until dark in-case he wasn't hit good. We went and got the ranger and tracked him. He was down. We dragged him out of the woods and loaded him up. He was a heavy sucker! We'd say somewhere between 280 and 300. I'll post a picture later but this has to be one of my most favorite hunts on this tagged team buck!!! Proud of myself and Gracie.

Thank you guys for all the awesome comments! He's been at the taxidermy for about a month now and we are getting a semi-right mount done on him. Ears forward as if he is more alert. I think he'll look good. Oh and by the way he is a 12 or 13 pointer
