Very few people hunt using a handgun so the state doesn't see it as a safety issue... That was the whole argument when the state was looking at when they were discussion allowing rifles for deer hunting was the safety aspect of it... Personally, I wish they would just ban ANY rifle cartridge if a weapon that is capable of firing it CANNOT be used to hunt with... Either allow all, or none... Keep it simple!

Same reason why you can't buy alcohol on Sundays... stone age thinking.
Deer Hunting since 1999 (Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana Antelope) Marketing Guy in Chicago but grew up in Indiana/ Ball State.. blah blah blah.
