Noticed that while the spring/early summer really set up the mass producing trees in a great way...the last 3 weeks or so atleast in Northern Indiana really seemed to zap production of size on the nuts as limited rainfall occurred.

A brief study of a few trees at the one property yielded the following observations:

-Tons of acorns but apparently only about 75% of their normal size. These were Red Oaks of the pin oak variety predominately which as many of you know when they produce, produce nuts in large number but this year seems even more than normal yet smaller than years past.

Just curious if anyone else is seeing similar type production?

Can't wait for those things to start falling!

We have white oaks that are being hammered. The shells are so many it is like a carpet. Be gone by deer season probably. Not really looked at the red oaks.

lots of acorns in my woods too!

We have lots of acorns but the soft mast are starting to drop now.
