Yes to both questions!
We are in booths 367 and 368. Just outside the Big Tine Seminar area. I will be in the booth nearly every minute that the show is open over the next four days.
Please stop in and say hello, I would love to meet as many of you from here as possible.
Also, please ask about our Dream Lease Sweepstakes. All new members of the AHLA are registered to win one of some great prizes to be drawn for in August. The Grand Prize is a $10,000 Base Camp Leasing gift certificate that can be used one or multiple leases! It really is a strong sweepstakes if I do say so. In addition, all new members will get a membership packet on the spot. AHLA hat, window decal and License/tag holder.

Russ Bellar rented the booth right across from the Hoosier Record Buck display and the IDHA booth. Said it really cost him but he wanted to make a statement. Said he had 1000's signing up for a free hunt at his place. I ask if they told them it was behind wire and he said sure they did. I walked over to his booth with Russ and asked a guy who just signed the paper if he knew it was a fenced hunt. He said no he didn't. Russ said they got to know that those deer are not wild. We will see that list in the legislature. Disappointed that the Renfro's allowed him to put that booth across from us. Maybe it time to look elsewhere to have a scoring and display. It is just further evidence that the industry is trying to piggy back on what the average sportsmen and public management of our Natural Resources have done. Would people come to Indiana to hunt deer and pay what they pay if we had no deer like we did when I grew up? No. They come here to say they killed a big deer leaving out the part where they killed it. Pure Machismo.

I noticed the booth also. Kept on walking. I am not the bit surprised thousands signed up for a "free" hunt of a deer in a pen. You are spot on, the taxidermist knows when he sees the hole from the ear tag but most won't say they shot the buck in a pen--just a "big buck" state like Ohio or Indiana Originally posted by DNA: ...... I don't believe the Renfro folks should restrict any vendor unless they are doing something illegal. If a vendor, any vendor, wants to set up across the aisle from the scoring display, so be it, and they shouldn't be restricted from doing so. I applaud the Renfro's for letting the booth selection be apparently an upfront and fair process.
Good for the high fence operator for setting up across from the display. I would suggest that doing so was a good business decision. And, I don't think there is or was anything wrong in doing so.
How could anyone be so irrational to not know that the booth was that of a high fence operator. Sometimes, people just need to use some common sense. From what I saw, there didn't appear to be any sort of misrepresentation from the visual aspect of the booth and I doubt that they didn't answer any question directly.
The scoring display and scoring itself is a function of a process and presentation to the public. Moving it makes no sense in my opinion. The function of the display and scoring is totally separate and distinct from all the political stuff going on. The Renfro folks determine the display and scoring areas for the show and will continue to do so.

I was wondering when this was going to pop up on here. I worked the Hoosier tree dog alliance booth right beside his all day Friday and Saturday and I watched peoples reactions and he is right, there were a ton sign up and tons of interest. I also watched some turn their noses up to it and walk on and heard some mutter about that being a set up hunt and how they wouldn't want to eat the meat anyway wondering what they had been given to make them grow racks like that. Russ and his helper told everyone that asked the deer were raised in Indiana and sent to Ohio to hunt. The big screen was playing hunts of the past and the fence was very visible in them, so I can't see where anybody could have thought this was wild deer hunting. I'm personally not against what he is doing, though I do kind of marvel and snicker at the people that pay big $$$$ to hunt a tame deer and I never signed up myself. Growing up on a farm I've butchered numerous Cows and hogs, I sure never mounted the head of one and to me this is virtually the same thing, but clearly there is a market there and where there is a market, someone is going to find a way to capitalize on it, no sense in being a hater. The battles we need to fight are against those who want to stop all hunting and use of animals.

Actually the booth space directly across from the Deer display is not a good area... Everyone is looking at the Deer not what's behind them!!!
