Headed to Lafayette area this upcoming week to hunt some family land. Just curious as stage(rut or post rut) the deer are in. Would appreciate any input. Thanks

I observed a LOT of chasing activity yesterday...I was hunting SW of Bedford in Lawrence county, but it was a very active day!

Don't know if it will help but I observed a buck & doe fully into the chase mode. I was in the woods just to check my camera & stand but I took my gun just in case. After checking the stand & pulling the card, I stopped to watch some squirrels chase each other. Then noticed a doe's head bobbing up & down in the distance like she was doing her rut prance.
As I watched I noticed her mating dance was bringing her & a large bodied buck(7 or 8 point) my way. He was fully entranced in her dance & wasn't looking around. She brought him into range for me but she came in & starting to circle me. Knowing she would soon catch my scent as she passed behind me, to keep her from alerting him I took my shot just as I thought he was in range.
Then I spun around & took a shot at her. As I looked back at him I saw him busting through the woods like he was on fire. Two other hunters took quick shots at him but no one hit. I watched the doe limp/run on three legs, crash into a tree, bounce off an unoccupied stand, then fall into a pile against a small hill. As I field dressed her out I noticed she had been bread already & was hanging open for more.
So the rut is in full down here in SW Indiana.

Drove 100+ miles ONE WAY yesterday just to sit for 4.5 hours....didnt see squat ...Wabash area had 1/2" of snow down.....nice afternoon, nothing but squirrels and birds...I finally got the wind direction I needed for this stand location and there was no way I was passing the chance....previous cam pics there looked very good at that location...I guess the deer didnt know I was coming and didnt bake the cake ....I would have stayed overnight and hunted today, but my buddy and his wifey has my sofa filled with dam relatives for the holiday, so I came back after the hunt......oh well ....

I appreciate the info. I am a Georgia hunter so I am always in the woods. I figured the cut corn should make the field hunting more productive.
