What year is it??? 36 if you are referring to deer hunting. BTW- you left out a category in the # of years….."Before Columbus discovered America"……just so you don't leave Weedy out!!! :p

Early 70's when I bought a T/C Hawken .50 so 40 something years. h.h.

first deer killed in 1990. i was 9 years old.

Right @ 30 years.

First time I went deer hunting was November 23, 1984 as you can see on the tag below.

My dad was a rabbit and squirrel guy. I killed a 1 spike buck w/ my old Ithaca pump 20 gauge.

1986 (senior in high school) was when it started. Then hit or miss the first few years while I was in college. But after I graduated, from the fall of 1992 I have deer hunted every fall except for 1996. In 1996 I lived in Mexico for business and missed every minute of every hunting season. So if we count back to 1986 to now ... 28 years with a handful of missed years in the early days.

No one in my family hunts, so sadly, I don't have my own youth hunting stories to fall back on.

I'm 34, first night I went out was 11 yrs old with a bow and missed a doe and a button buck. That was fall of 1991. Does that make this 23 yrs?

Whats more fun is trying to remember all the deer you've killed and how you identify them. Dad and I just did it and both remembered deer we'd killed that the other forgot! We each killed a doe over the weekend and dad remains slightly ahead of me but I've passed him in # killed with a bow! The honest truth is I already forget how many each of us We found dad's blood trail. No deer yet. I belly haired my doehas harvested. I'll have to dig my list out and update, "doe along creek, creek stand, shotgun!"

31 years for me. But my first deer killed was in 1992. I wasn't too good the first 10 years or so

I'm 62 years young and started at age 12! I think I have an aniversary.......LOL.

18 yrs for me I believe.

Didn't start until college when a roommate got me hooked. He kept getting up at EARLY hours and waking me up...so decided to join him one Thanksgiving break. Never saw a deer, froze in the snow, etc....thinking "what in the world am i doing??"

Took first buck the next season, and was hooked!

Went hunting for the first time back in 98 I believe... Didn't get my first deer until my third year of deer hunting...

I have been deer hunting about 45 years. Killed my first buck in 1969. I'm glad I took my sons and grandsons hunting when they were young, now they take me!

That was a good idea to post that here DNA. However, it might be skewed towards the older generation a little these days. Most of the younger generation has all the social medias (FB, Twitter, etc.) to play on, and I bet thats where they are at. These "old dilapidated" forums aren't "cool" enough now days.

This year makes 41. Think I'm starting to like this sport?

I have 3 younger hunters in my house. I doubt they'd be caught dead hanging around on the grumpy old man's forum though

None of my kids are too serious about it though. But then again, neither was I at their age. We'll see how it turns out. I've done about all I could do.

35 years for me. Started deer hunting when I was 16 in 1979.

My observation is that we have about a third of the deer we had just 10 years ago. INDNR please quit allowing the slaughter of so many does! This past Saturday I heard almost no shots. You can say it was the weather, but I really believe with all the hunters in the woods it still should have pushed the deer around creating shot opportunities. I saw 10 deer Saturday morning. I used to see at least 30 on opening morning.
