Here is some neat info on deer collisons in each state. Heck we don't have many compared to other states.

The Swamps of South Ga!
West Virginia 1 in 39!
South Dakota 1 in 68..... ranked one and two!

That's neat PB! Also a good learning tool for youngsters to learn their states. LOL :p

I noticed for Indiana they say projected....is that only reported collisions or including the estimated unreported collisions..... Indiana only has about 10,000 reported collisions each year....it is said however, that for every reported hit, there are 3-5 that go unreported....maybe that is what is meant by projected

They should do the same for the total deer harvest each year and say "projected" deer harvest totals because a good # are not checked in.

I'm not sure if they base their statistics on accident reports. At my Department, we do accident reports but I know a lot of other Departments, dispatchers just get their information and add it to a complaint sheet. No accident report is done. I usually work around 30+ car-vs-deer accidents a year.
