Well crap! I figured the reduction in eligible counties last year was too good to last.

Effects of EHD last year were considered in preparing the 2020-2021 Bonus County quotas
Quotas were kept low in southern part of Indiana which were most impacted by EHD last year
Quotas north of the EHD impacted area were raised by 1 in general (these were brought up to a CBAQ of 3. In 2019 most of these counties would have been a 4 before EHD occurred).
Last year adjustments were made due to EHD which resulted in no counties at 4 or above
This effectively eliminated the late Antlerless season last year - however, DNR allowed the Late Antlerless Season to occur in those counties that had a CBAQ of 4 or 8 prior to the EHD change.
This was reviewed again after the 2020-2021 seasons are completed
Again this year there will be no counties with a 4 or higher quota
However DNR believes that the late Special Antlerless Season had little impact on populations based upon past results
Data from past years shows that not many more deer overall are taken as a result of this
Based upon the results of past survey between 50-60% of hunters favored this season while 25-35% did not favor this season

Look closer though. Now basically every county is eligible for the late firearms antlerless season. The new-for-2020 rule states that all counties except "A" counties (Benton & Tipton) now have a late season. Meaning does, button bucks and shed bucks are fair game for another 9 days, well into January. Previously only the 4&up bonus counties were eligible.

well dam ... thats new ..... IMO, I think it sucks ... thank goodness I no longer gun hunt .... Two deer with the bow and I'm done for the season, fills my freezer just fine ...dosnt matter on the F&W area I hunt as no bonus tags can be used as it is, THAT'S A GOOD THING ... there are plenty AL's killed between archery and the ML season as it is ...

It really not a game changer if you look at the harvest numbers according to him.

I am with you on the shed bucks but I believe that’s a low percent.

I looked @ the last data I could find (the 2018/19) season and the harvest of 2720 deer in the late antlerless season was as follows:

Does accounted for 82.9%
Button bucks accounted for 15.9%
Bucks (shed) accounted for 1.2%

That 1.2% equals 32 bucks.

All the public hunting areas in the SW Indiana have a sign up that Bonus Antlerless Licences are not valid on these property's. So if they are not valid on public land where do the public get a chance to use them?

Private land and Hoosier National (?) ...not sure about the State Forest lands ...

Just use archery or muzzleloader license ... then you can shoot t does!

I think just FWA land is no bonus tags. Use to be a section in the book that showed all lands where bonus tags not allowed
