Im thinking standard eye relief mounted safely away from the youth eye. You may have to move the scope forward a bit, but not much recoil in a 44.
Treat me like I'm your best friend and it may happen

We also used a Sims recoil pad for him although there is not much recoil.

Just put together one myself with the collapsible ATI stock. Ive mounted a Red Dot on it and curious if anyone has had any luck with the red dot scopes. Trying to idiot proof it for the kids. I'm sure it wont group to my standards but I expect a good 4" group at 50 yards with it.
My personal HR 44 holds almost same hole at 50 but is scoped well and shooting 300gr XTP handloads.
Consistent luck is nothing more than hard work and preparation.

I don't like red dots. Just my opinion. I would go with a decent quality low power scope. I put a redfield revenge scope on my .44 and love the combo.
