Found a nice pair of sheds last year scouting for turkeys in March (really lucky). Good clean set, 60 yards apart & not chewed up surprisingly. I am currently working on a shed collector. I can post some pics next week when the project is finished. Plenty of stuff on-line to read about this technique also. Anyways, I worked with a guy that had an awesome collection that he either had found by walking or by the use of a shed collector on his property. Just another way to cure cabin fever. How soon do you all start looking for sheds & do any of you use a shed collector?

here is my "shed collector"

She has found a few and loves to chew on the ones I give her. Here she is after finding a deer this fall.

Bucks can drop from Dec thru April....I start as soon as the snow melts enough to see 'em....If there is little to no snow I start around the end of Jan, some of my better ones have been the first week of Feb........in the last few years sheds have been hard to come by....less bucks surviving, less bucks being born 'cause of lower Doe numbers = less sheds to be found.....

Good dog Chevy. I've heard retrievers / labs can be a good resource. I'm hoping with the shed collector & my trail cam I can do inventory on which bucks have made it through the year. So far I have picked one spot on a property that I hunt to hang my contraption. Did a little walking today & it's great to see a highway in the snow from all the deer that have made it. 1 more day left & we all get a new buck tag as my brother would say. If anyone finds sheds please post pics!! As well if anyone has other ideas of shed collectors please feel free to add. Just another great way to enjoy our resources.
