I was hotter than a hornet this morning when i seen a truck pulled in the lane on my hunting property. I stoped a walked the feild edge to find someone hunting from my stand, not only was i upset at that he was smoking & had dropped near a half dozen butts on the ground under my stand. i am fit to be tied after that. Found out later that the fellow was stretching the boundries by about 60 yds.

I recommend discussing him moving over 60 yards and not smoking in your stand. If we truly care about each others success you may also discuss working together to hunt both sides of the fence. That would likely work better for both of you.

He has no problem moving back to his side of the field & he apologized several times he even cleaned his mess up (butts) after I asked we exchanged what bucks we have seen. I asked him if he thought the smoking was hurting his hunts & he seems to think it make the deer curious so they come check it out. When I know he is hunting I think I will hunt other stands when the wind permits. I was just furious at the time.
Sorry for the venting earlier

He seems to think its no different then somebody burning trash in the home near by yards. To each his own.I have talked to several people about this and only one said he smokes in the stand they have had deer come up on them while smoking

I think he has a point about the smoking. I can't tell you how many times I have seen a bunch of deer sitting around a campfire playing guitar and re-enacting the campfire scene from blazing saddles. They just love smoke and fire. Lol

Well he can smoke all he wants all be down wind & harvest the big one while his nose is in the wind getting a wiff of that smoke. That's enough my uncle was telling me a story from about 15 years ago one of the big know hunters around here came in the wood before day light started up my uncles stand while he was already in it he asked the guy if he wants to have a cup of coffee scared the man so much he hi tailed it out of there. Do u have any trespassing stories

I know a guy that smokes while he is hunting and I must say he has killed some nice deer. Probably more big ones than i have killed trying to be scent free and all. I think trying to be scent free during bow season is more important than in gun season though.

best to get them arrested, that 500 dollar plus ticket usually straightens them out

I have problems at my Miami farm, the locals have a free for all when I'm not there, inconsiderate and unethical POS

I used to go to Arkansas every year to deer hunt. We would usually meet up a few times through out the day somewhere on the main trail and share what we have seen, etc. We would be talking, laughing, several guys smoking, 4 wheelers running, and deer would come out of no where. Some would be sneaking through, not too worried about us (until the shots rang out) and others would be doing 90 in a 30! Always amazed though when deer would show up amongst all the commotion.

Hunting from your stand is not an honest mistake

He had said he thought it was a stand that was left there by the owner of the property he hunts on. I went out Sunday evening didn't see a thing sat in a different stand though

Is Generous. Where's ur stand? I don't smoke tho. So guess that disqualifies me. Just kiddin. I would have been pretty bent myself. I have someone sneaking into my area they turn their head when walking by trail cam. Also in Clinton. Thought about setting trail cam directly across from, but he will prob just break both of em. Trespassers suck for sure. Good luck
