Any of you use an ice fishing shelter/hub blind? Been looking at them online and no idea what looks good. I have two boys so I need one with some room to grow as my guys are young but this purchase would last a while!

Suggestions or pics welcome!

Thanks

I fished Summit alot with a buddy several years back, that had a portable shanty. Seemed like it was more of a hassle than anything, moving,,,etc. You might check out this site. Lots of good info to be had..

Be careful with the ice. I talked to the guy we fish with near Ludington Michigan last night and he is catching perch through a foot of ice on Pentwater Lake but because of the deep snow not being blown off the ice on the ponds near his home, those small ponds and lakes aren't safe enough with good ice. They've had cold temps for quite a while and this snow here, if it sits on top of a pond already thinly iced over, it still could be tricky if the water is moving or going down from the recent rains.

I have been reading on iceshanty and getting a little skeptical about getting out since I don't do it all the time. You would think we would be good since it is cold but many are reporting thinner ice cover than snow pack and the weight of the snow is pushing the ice down and deteriorating the ice that is there.

May wait this one out some until reports of better ice come out!

Safety first!

Matt: I work with a guy at the HCMH and he has been out on Summit on Sat. and on Sunday during the snow fall. He said he killed them on Sat. and then a bad day on Sunday. He is also a guy who will go out on the thin ice also. Rusty
