Saw two bucks on my drive down this morning and just knew today was going to be good! 8:15 I see legs coming at me under some brush so I get ready. A dandy buck appears and I am thinking OH YEAH! I already have him hanging in my garage at this point because in 6 steps or so he's 15 yards! Instead he turns and comes right at my tree and no shot. Finally about 5 steps from my tree I get to full draw and my bow is stopped by the sides of my ladder stand!!!! Great!!! He's dead and doesn't know it but I can't get my bow on him! So I let down because I have a small walnut tree right beside me and I can't swing through and follow him! I get around it and he is about 6 yards behind me now and no clue I am there! I get about 3/4 draw and he looks right at me!!! Blew and took about 10 hops! Of course he stopped butt to me and then he was off! He did walk right by my trail cam but I figured it was dead...it was!!!
So after feeling sick for a few, I see more legs same trail coming right at me! This time its a big doe and I think one fawn. She pulled the exact same move he did. I out smarted her and got my bow behind the walnut and would you know she stopped almost foot for foot where he did! I pulled back on her easily and let it go! She was quartering hard to almost butt to me. Went in OK but being 20 feet up and 6 yards, I went straight down. Muzzy starred the liver and she went about 60 yards from where I shot her however she managed to climb out of the bowl I was in to only turn and come right back down and die in the creek bed! Go figure. After that pull out, I am sure she weighs 250+ LOL! Probably 110 or so. Very pleased and hope to see that big boy again!
Sorry for a field pic with no one in it. By myself today and no one home to take a pic! Good luck all. Can't wait to hit the tree again!
