Is the Hoosier National forest open for hunting or is all access closed due to Federal Shut Down?

The World War II Memorial is still open to veterans groups – and others who want to move the barriers to get in.

I just got off the phone with a lady at Cecil M Harden Lake (Raccoon Lake) and the lady there said they got an email stating all outdoor recreation is still open, so hunting I will go

Gated rec sites are closed, but you don't really close a national forest. Hunt on without worry.

I know someone who got a warning on his car this weekend in the charles deams wilderness area.

I have heard rumors that people are being told to leave, but find it hard to believe the state is out telling people to stay off federal land. I would think they have more important things to do. I guess anything is possible. I have been hunting HNF for many years and rarely see any authorities there let alone enough to keep people out of 190,000 acres of forestry. Hopefully, it will be cleared up or is all rumor as we head down in a few weeks to camp for a week.

It seems that the National Forest are closed for some activities but hunting is not one of them. Go hunting it is not against the law.

So,just because the gov was shut down, you cant hunt state property?

State property was never closed to the public, only Federally controlled property was...
