I pulled up on a coyote set today to this catch circle and no animal and man I was upset [Linked Image]
Then I get out to look around and there is a set of dog tracks there and then I find this and only this and this trap was unused this year so had a fresh coat dye and wax [Linked Image]
What do you guys think

Well, I believe you had a coon or grinner, and dogs had a meal. When you say "dog" tracks, I assume you meant domestic dog? The way the dye is wore off the trap, I'd say coon. They are bad about shining up a dyed trap. It happens.

That point is a good set location.

Sorry I would say coyote. Yea I hope it is the end of a fence row and seems like it should be good but nothing yet. Yea there is no foot or anything identifiable just a piece of bone no blood or hair I did find what looked like a (1) coon hair on a stick close to the trap

those coyotes will be back

I have experienced the same. Only I had the front leg of a red fox. The assumption was the fox was eaten buy a coyote. I found half of the carcass buried in some brush a week later when running snares for beaver. Sucks, would have been my first red.
