dont let the stoegers mislead you. they are a very nice gun for a decent price. a little on the heavy side but function well.

my family has two one twelve and one combo. the combo is alot better gun. the twenty gauge barrel is my favorite gun to shoot. lightweight and hardly no recoil. the twelve i personally hate. its heavy and kicks like a mule to me.

I have a 12 and 28 gauge gauge CZ woodcocks and love them. Great guns for around a $1000. Discontinued but I would think other CZ's would be great as well. I have located a 20 ga woodcock but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet!
Good luck

Good luck FoamFlyer, being discontinued they are a little hard to find. Gander MOuntain in Lafayette had a 12 the last time I was there. Wanting the 20 really bad...

I have always liked my Ruger Red Label, but it is the only o/u I've ever owned. It's done everything I've asked!

I've got the red label too. However I find it a little heavy and there just isn't enough drop in the comb for me. I shoot side by side guns now.

I have a Red Label 12 and would like to get the new 20. Been a very good gun for me for over 20 plus years, yes a little heavy but the 20 gauge is a little lighter. I think you can get them for about a grand

Glad it worked for you. Currently I'm shooting a Franchi Alcione-T 12/20 and a Franchi 28 gauge O/U. I have other guns but the Franchi's seem to fit me better. One of my friends shoots a Mossberg O/U and another has a Stoeger he really likes. Both are well under $1000 and come just about any way you want 'em. Jack
