get a roll cage...one of the best things to get em fired up!

NEVER discipline a dog on the tree...even if has got the neighbors cat up there.

Put reflective collars on your dogs at night

groundhogs are a good sub for coons when training. Taken out of their home range, they will quickly climb a tree wink and you can then LEGALLY shoot em out to the pups. And do it all in the daylight.

Start out with the pups tied, and drag the coon/groundhog around and to a tree they can see. Oncer they are treeing that way, tie them around the corner out of sight and make em use their nose to find it...and dont use the same tree each time or they'll just be running to it verses tracking.

give them lots of woods time...lots. Start out with day trips. get them used to crossing water.

the "walking with wick" book is a great start!

good luck.
