Posting this on the Deer Hunting forum intentionally:

Received news at the Indiana Bowhunter Banquet last night that Dr. Jim Mitchell, retired Indiana Deer Biologist, was killed in an auto accident on Friday.

Years ago, when I accepted the position as IBA Rep to the Indiana Deer Advisory Committee, I remember Gene Hopkins saying:

"You may not always like to hear what Jim is saying about deer management, but you can count on it being the truth."

Those words proved to be absolute and I gained alot of respect for Jim during my years with the IDAC....and after.

Found this photo of Dr. Jim in my archives...taken shortly before his retirement.

Rest in peace Jim.
